Terms and Conditions of Sales
Enrolling at l’école l’Etoile for language classes and/or using the proposed housing services implies the complete and entire agreement of the student with the following terms and conditions.
Registration terms
Conditions for acceptance into the school
Registration takes place throughout the whole year, and a placement test taken at the student’s arrival allows for placing the student in the appropriate class.
If the student is less than 18 years old, a parental authorization form will be supplied during registration that states information pertaining to the contact person in case of an accident and gives permission to the school administration to act in case of necessary medical and/or surgical intervention, as well as states the details of the insurance provided by the legal guardians for the length of the student’s enrollment (liability, health and repatriation insurance).
Registration
Registration can be done online, by mail, by fax or in the office. The student must pay a predetermined minimum portion of fees according to the classes and sessions that he/she is taking. This minimum can change without notice.
If the student needs a pre-registration certificate for a long-stay visa application, the student must send the school an enrollment request as well as the nonrefundable pre-registration fees. When the school has received his/her enrollment request and payment, the school will send the pre-registration certificate to the student. This certificate is valid for one year. The student must begin classes during the given year. The pre-enrollment certificate and fees cannot under any circumstances be credited to another student.
Definitive Enrollment
The student must present him or herself at the school with his/her passport, identity card or carte de séjour and two identity photos. The enrollment and class time do not become definitive until the student arrives at the school, takes the placement test and pays for tuition. A registration certificate can be given to the student after payment of at least 3 months of classes or of the total tuition fees due.
Tuition payment
Tuition must be paid before the beginning of classes by:
· Bank card (Visa, MasterCard or EuroCard),
· Traveler’s check in euro or a bank check (endorsable in France) in euro, paid to the order of Paris Language and Solutions – L’Etoile,
· cash (in euro),
· PayPal – add 4% to cover PayPal’s fees,
· Bank transfer to the school’s account (please note the student’s name in the transfer and send a photocopy of the transfer with the enrollment form)

Cancellation of classes and housing (if housing was requested with enrollment)
All payments are definitive and nonrefundable, regardless of the reason for cancellation. Classes cannot be transferred to another student.
In certain cases, a partial reimbursement can be given. All requests for reimbursement are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be justified by appropriate official documents. Any cancellation request must be submitted in writing (letter, fax or email) to the school before the start of classes. Pre-enrollment fees, registration fees and housing placement fees are never refunded.
If the student cancels his/her reservation more than one month before the planned date of arrival, the school can reimburse 70% of the sum paid, minus 150€ in administrative fees.
If the student cancels his/her reservation three to four weeks from the planned date of arrival, the school can reimburse 60% of the sum paid, minus 150€ in administrative fees.
If the student cancels his/her reservation less than two weeks before the planned arrival date, the school can reimburse 40% of the sum paid, minus 150€ in administrative fees.
Students for whom a pre-registration certificate was required for a visa application cannot receive any form of reimbursement. However, if the student’s visa application is refused, and after having provided the original refusal document from the French Embassy and the original registration certificate, the school can reimburse the entire sum paid, minus 150€ in administrative fees.
If the student cannot attend classes for medical reasons (a certificate from his/her medical doctor must be sent to the school by mail), the reserved classes can be postponed for up to 12 months from the date of receiving the certificate.
In any case, refunds will only be made by bank transfer. All bank fees are the student’s responsibility.
The school reserves the right to modify or cancel any class at any moment. If the school finds itself needing to cancel a class, the school will do its best to propose an equivalent class to the student. If the school cannot propose and equivalent class, the student will be entirely reimbursed for the amount received by the school for the period of classes cancelled.
Private classes: Any cancelation or rescheduling of classes by the student must imperatively be done before noon the day before the scheduled class; otherwise, the class with be charged to the student.
Behavior/Tardiness/Discipline
In order to not disturb classes, students that arrive at the school more than 15 minutes late for class must wait for the break before entering the classroom.
By enrolling in the school, students are agreeing to follow classes in a consistent manner and to respect the Règlement Intérieur (rules and regulations) of the school. If the student is placed in housing by the school’s intermediary services, s/he is expected to follow the Quality Charter that was given to him/her at the beginning of the stay if placed in a host family, or to respect the given rules and regulations of any foyer or residence in which the student has been placed.
The school reserves the right in the case of a student’s poor or abnormal behavior or bad attitude, whether at the school or in his/her housing arranged by the school, to dismiss the student at any time.
Insurance
The school does not accept any responsibility for loss of or damage to students’ property, regardless of the nature of the situation. Students are required to enroll in adequate personal insurance (liability, medical and repatriation insurance).
Image use
The school may take photos in which students appear, and the photos may be used to illustrate brochures or the website, except if a student expressly declines his/her participation. This declaration must be submitted in writing to the school, during registration.
Complaints
Any complaint concerning the services provided by the school must be submitted by registered mail with proof of delivery to the school’s address. The complaint must be submitted before the last week of classes. Only the director of the school can render a decision on any possible refunds or other means of recuperating untaken classes.
In case of a legal dispute, the concerned parties will be judged under the jurisdiction of the Tribunaux de Paris (Paris Tribunals).
French federal holidays/school closings
The school is closed during French federal holidays and during certain weeks for vacation during the school year. All holiday and closing dates are posted in the school and listed on the website.
