Program of studies

 

The program of studies at our school depends on the level in which the student is placed. 

Here are example programs that students at various levels might follow during a minimum of 3 months:

  • True beginner: language acquisition.Mastery of verbs in the present, present perfect and close future tenses, of negative and interrogative sentence structures and of articles.

    • Objective: be able to understand situations in daily life and to communicate in simple sentences.
  • False beginner/Elementary: deepening of foundational French.  Mastery of verbs in the imperfect and future simple tenses and of the difference between imperfect and present perfect tenses.
    • Objective: be able to give one’s opinion and preferences, accept or refuse, etc.
  • Intermediate 1 and 2: reinforcement of foundational French.  Mastery of past perfect, conditional and subjunctive tenses.
    • Objective: communicate autonomously, express hypotheses, discuss projects and enrich vocabulary.
  • Advanced 1 and 2: perfect grammar and conjugation and broaden one’s lexical repertoire, understand different daily life situations.
    • Objective: mastery of written and spoken French. 
  • Perfecting: a very strong understanding of French grammar but with a few subsisting difficulties.
    • Objective: perfect mastery of French, ameliorate oral and written expression in order to understand the language’s subtleties so that one may integrate the French university system.

Calendar 2010 - 2011

 

Extensifs classes by trimester (10 hours of class + 10 hours of homework per week) :

1st trimester (11 weeks of class):

  • from September 27 to December 17,  2010
  • Toussaint vacation: October 25-29, 2010
  • Christmas vacation: December 20, 2010 - December 31, 2010

2nd trimester (11 weeks of class):

  • from January 3 to March 25, 2010
  • Winter vacation: February 21-25, 2010

3rd trimester (11 weeks of class):

  • from March 28 to June 17, 2010
  • Spring vacation: April 18-22, 2010

 

Extensive, intensive and evening classes by the week or by month: 

Vacation periods are the same as classes by the trimester.

 

Au-pair classes (6 hours of class and 4 hours of homework per week):

1st trimester (10 weeks of class):

  • from September 27 to December 16, 2010
  • Toussaint vacation: October 25 to November 5, 2010
  • Christmas vacation: December 20 to December 31, 2010

2nd trimester (10 weeks of class):

  • from January 3 to March 25, 2011
  • Winter vacation: February 14 to February 25, 2011
3rd trimester (10 weeks of class):
  • from March 28 to June 17, 2011
  • Spring vacation: April 11-22, 2011

 

There are no classes during state holidays, and there are no price reductions or reimbursements given for these days: 11/01/10, 11/11/10, 06/02/11, 06/13/11, 07/14/11, 08/15/11.

Class times

 

  • From Monday to Friday for extensive and intensive classes : 9h00-11h00, 11h00-13h00, 13h00 -15h00 or 15h00-17h00
  • Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for au-pair classes: 9h00-11h00, 11h00-13h00, or 13h00 -15h00
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays for evening classes: 18h30-20h30

 

Number of students per class:

Generally, there are 8-12 students per class (16 maximum for extensives courses and 18 for au-pair courses).
